Body washing

Body washing

Washing the car on the street is forbidden in many cities. This is fully justified. During washing, environmentally harmful petroleum substances enter the sewage system.

Washing the car with an overpressure device

The temperature of the washing water should not exceed 60°C. Too warm water harms rubber components and anti-corrosion protection of the chassis,

Set the water pressure regulator to 3 MPa and keep 60… 80 centimeter distance of the pressure nozzle from the car. Too hot water and too strong jet can cause damage to the varnish.

Washing the motor with water may cause damage to the electronics, and water enters the intake pipe – serious engine damage.

Do not wash your tyres with a water concentrating tip; you can damage the soft sides of the tire.

At too high water pressure, even maintaining the appropriate spacing of the spray nozzle will not protect the varnish from damage invisible at first glance.

In a self-service car wash, you have a wide variety of devices at your disposal, also for pressure washing. Such a unit with a handle ended with a brush saves water and enables thorough and paint-safe washing. Special water additives will remove even the most stubborn dirt.

The most common practice is to wash the car with an automatic car wash. The amount of water used for washing is quite significant, which protects the paintwork of the body. The car wash has its own oil separator and water treatment device, which contributes to the protection of the environment. You can usually choose one according to the dirt, as well as prices, body wash and care program.

Checking the cleanliness of the vehicle
After leaving the car wash, it is worth checking, whether the car is clean. The automatic brushes usually do not get into the wheel arches, gaps in the hubcaps and under the sills. It is necessary to manually clean the door frames and other hard-to-reach elements with a sponge. In winter, the brine flows into the wheel arches, it settles on the paintwork and on the chassis. You should go to the car wash more often this time of year. It is true that the car will get dirty again in a moment, but by frequent washing you prevent rust spots in critical places. Don't be overly overwhelmed by the fact, that the entire body is made of galvanized steel.

Drying the brakes after washing the car

After each washing of the car, check the operation of the brakes, braking every now and then. This allows the water to evaporate, which got caught between the friction inserts and the brake discs in the car wash. Also in winter, you should dry the brakes after driving in puddles with brine, before parking the car for a few days. It is enough to press the brake pedal several times during the last hundred meters of the road. This drying of the brakes will prevent inadequate performance in a critical situation, due to damp or saltiness of the brake discs.
