Such a large trailer as the Galloperra can not be attached to any other off-road station wagon. In addition, the powerful turbo-diesel guarantees it a fast enough ride even with the heaviest trailer. The earlier Pajero L040 could in its time pull a trailer with maximum weight 2.500 kg. That's all the standards allowed.. Right now, after being born again, Pajero can pull a full three tons, just like Galloper.
To test driving with a trailer, we chose a four-door version. It offers a lot of equipment comfort at this price from competitors. The standard equipment of the deck is not only electric window lifters, central locking (unfortunately, this does not apply to side mirrors). There are versions also with separate heating control for all five seats and even air conditioning; alloy wheels and two-tone varnish.
First of all, it lacks a more modern Pajero technique. Land Cruiser and companies: no continuous all-wheel drive, three-stage power distribution, only 2,5 litre of displacement. "Korean" is just a whole generation back in relation to "Japanese": no wonder – it is based on built up to a year 1991 Pajero I.
This is noticeable already when boarding: instead of the already usual streamlined dashboard landscape, we are dealing with an angular, a dismembered board with a block of additional instruments bulging upwards (tilt indicator, thermometer, height indicator) and surprisingly imprecise rotary circuit breakers for heating control. Cockpit, as it has been done in the past, has this disadvantage, that or you can comfortably set the steering wheel, or you have a good view of the speed and rotational speed indicators – never both at the same time. As in the past, the possibility of longitudinally moving the driver's seat is too small (only 13 cm), what bothers long-legged drivers. They also do not arouse admiration – in themselves very positive – tilting middle armrests. They cannot be rearranged, as a result, depending on the deviation of the backrest, they can be much too high. The quality of the material and finish of many interior details also does not match the Japanese level.; the large amount of unsightly shiny hard plastic used does not allow you to doubt, that you sit in a cheaper car.
After a short period of habituation, with all these "shortcomings" it is possible to live. If someone is guided by the price, he must ask himself a question, is it really worth paying twice as much because of these few defects in appearance and buying original Pajero. Because when it comes to the vehicle itself, Galloper does not belong to the antique. In each direction, it is a few centimeters less than Pajero, but even so, there is enough space for the whole family. In the four-door version, even a third row of seats is on board as standard, suitable for the carriage of at least children. When the well-accessible additional seats are folded – also in this case, the folding and locking mechanism has a cheaper execution than in Pajero – has at your disposal a large, well accessible thanks to the split tailgate cargo space.
