VENTILATION AND HEATING
The car's interior ventilation and heating system is housed in a plastic housing and consists of many air distribution ducts and the following devices:
- electric fan for blowing more air at different speeds,
- heater, which is incorporated in the cooling system of the engine.
- two diffusers for air stream distribution depending on the setting of different control levers.
By actuating the iris (A) fresh air is supplied through the outer sash opening to the interior of the vehicle. This air flows through the heater and fan and exits through the duct (G) on the feet or the windshield nozzles.
After opening the heater valve (C) the incoming air in the heater is heated (E). Depends on the position of the shutter (B) this air flows into the gaps near the window or into the ducts (G) placed next to the legs. Replacing the heater or fan is carried out as follows.
■ Clamp the fluid supply lines to the heater and disconnect them from the heater. Collect leaking fluid.
■ Disconnect the electric wires from the fan.
■ On the engine side, unscrew the bolts securing the assembly to the bodywork.
■ Remove the fastening screw from the upper shelf.
■ Remove the complete assembly from the instrument panel.
Assembly of the unit is performed in the reverse order. Top up the cooling system and bleed air. General instructions for replacing assembly components are given below.
■ The heater or fan can be replaced after the housing halves have been separated.
■ By installing the tie rods, pay attention to the correct setting of the end position of the heater valve and the air shutter.
■ The lever knobs can be pulled out for disassembly.
■ The heater is not serviceable and must be replaced if damaged. The same applies to the heater valve.
