Peugeot 106 – This Peugeot model went on sale in 1991 year and in many countries was willingly bought by ladies. French designers have developed a vehicle with a neat body, interesting colors and good traction properties. Despite commercial successes, five years later the car underwent a rejuvenating treatment. Received a characteristic styling- large slanted headlights, narrow air intake opening and new large trademark. The interior of the passenger compartment has acquired a new color scheme and has been muted. The new 106 is matched to the style of other models of this generation.
In the previous commercial offer there were three- or five-door combimuzines in seven priced equipment variants. The cars were powered by spark-ignition engines with a capacity of 1,0-1,6 dm3 and powers respectively 37-88 kW. For the economical, a compression ignition engine with a capacity is provided 1,5 dm3 and power 43 kW. In such a rich offer, everyone interested could find something for themselves, with us the greatest popularity, due to the price, cars with engines were enjoyed 0,9 i 1,1 dm3. Two equipment standards are available: Activ including immobilizer and tinted windows and Cocktail, in which we additionally receive a driver's airbag, metallized varnish, fog lights and bumpers in body colour.
The main difference between the previous and new generation models, beyond the shape of the body, is the equipment of cars with engine capacity 954 dm3 in a new five-speed gearbox and manually coded ignition lock, which effectively protects the car from amateurs of someone else's property. Significant changes were made to the design of friction nodes and the method of engine oil filtration, thanks to which the mileage between inspections was halved, and thus significantly reduced maintenance costs.
Carefully selected body proportions work primarily in urban traffic. The car is very maneuverable and efficiently moves around crowded streets. In the three-door version, when tilting the backrests of the seats forward, the seats move automatically, which allows you to comfortably occupy seats in the rear sofa. The car can easily accommodate four people and a small luggage of volume 215 dm3.
Advantages of the model 106 are: ergonomic layout of instrument panel and control levers, good driving characteristics, suspension comfort, well-planned interior, very good visibility in all directions, efficient drive system with dynamic, economical engine and good corrosion resistance.
The shortcomings include: audible signal placed in the turn signal lever, seats too soft and not the best fit to the shape of the body, noise-wearing rear shelf while driving, no lining in the trunk and placement of the spare wheel under its floor.
