Electric power steering

Electric power steering – This solution is universal, can be used in all models of the brand and is completely independent of the operation of the engine driving the car (also works then, when the vehicle engine is immobilized). The device is equipped with an electric motor connected via a worm gear to the steering shaft and an electronic control module. Control detects the direction of rotation of the steering shaft (steering wheel movement when turning) and starts the engine, who tries to turn the shaft in the same direction, making it easier to move the steering wheel. The Punto uses two modes of operation of electric assistance. Normal, with constant assistance force, independent of speed and driving conditions, and the second, called city, activated at the driver's request by a button in the centre console. Enabling this mode significantly increases the amount of assistance force and is designed for maneuvering or slow driving in the city.
