Fiat 126 Suspension steering and braking

fiat126pSUSPENSION, STEERING AND BRAKING – All wheels of the vehicle are independently suspended. The front wheels were mounted on transverse wishbones and on a transverse leaf spring. A semi-elliptical spring consisting of five leaves was attached to the body at two points with flexible supports. Each of its outer parts acted as a spring element and acted as a lower wishbone. Hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers were attached to the upper steel plate arms. The rear wheels of the vehicle were guided by inclined wishbones, welded from sheet metal stampings. The suspension elements were coil springs, cooperating with telescopic shock absorbers. The road wheels are equipped with radial tires with dimensions 135 SR 12.
The steering system uses a worm gear. The steering column is divided into three sections, connected by universal joints. The hydraulic brake system had two circuits: for front and rear wheels. There are drum brakes on all wheels. The drums are made of cast iron, and the brake shoes are equipped with automatic adjusters of the clearance between the drum and the friction lining. The mechanical auxiliary brake acted on the rear wheels.
